SIC is a research center providing an excellent environment to perform high quality and internationally approved research on vector –borne diseases in Burkina Faso specialy in Bobo Dioulasso and contributing to capacity building by training the next generations of African scientists. Former CEO and Founding Father, PROF. ABDOULAYE DIABATE
Professor Robert T. Guiguemdé is an internationally renowned expert in tropical medicine and parasitology. A former brigadier general and full professor, he served as director of the Higher Institute of Health Sciences at the Polytechnic University of Bobo-Dioulasso. The author of more than 300 publications, he specializes in the fight against diseases such as malaria, leishmaniasis, onchocerciasis, and intestinal parasitic infections. Recipient of numerous honors including an honorary doctorate from the University of Bordeaux II and the El Fasi Prize in Tropical Medicine. Professor Guiguemdé is a Commander of the National Order, a recipient of the Military Medal of Honor, and a Knight of the Order of Academic Palms. A member of the African Academy of Sciences since 2004, he served as president of its West Africa branch from 2014 to 2020. As a World Health Organization expert for the certification of the eradication of dracunculiasis (Guinea worm disease), he is also a founding member of the National Academy of Sciences, Arts, and Letters of Burkina Faso (ANSAL-BF). He also serves as president of the Burkinabé Society of Parasitology and on the Scientific Council of the CNRST, and is currently the Director General of SYC, where he continues his work to promote research.

Dr. Jean-Noël PODA is an expert in hydrobiology and human-ecosystem health (Eco-Health). He holds a postgraduate doctorate in hydrobiology from Paul Sabatier University Toulouse III (France) and a Doctor of Science degree in applied biology from Ouaga I University named after Professor Joseph Ki-Zerbo (Burkina Faso). As a research director and adjunct professor, he has held several strategic positions, including Director of the Institute for Health Sciences Research (IRSS/CNRST), Director General of Scientific Research and Innovation (DGRSI), and finally Minister of Scientific Research and Innovation (2014–2015) in Burkina Faso. A member of the National Academy of Sciences, Arts, and Letters of Burkina Faso, the International Joint Unit (UMI 3189 ESS), and several networks and learned societies—including the Society of Exotic Pathology he serves as Scientific Director of SYC, where he continues his commitment to advancing scientific research and training in the service of public health.
