The medical entomology laboratory of Sya Innovation Center (SIC) is equipped with an excellent insectarium where various mosquito species and strains exhibiting different mechanisms of resistance are available. These different strains are used to test the efficacy of novel insecticide/formulations.

The laboratory has the expertise to conduct the different tests as recommended by WHO and is equipped as well with molecular biology and biochemistry equipment’s for mosquito genotyping and biochemical analyses. SIC staff have experience and expertise in the medical entomology in general and in vector control tools development and testing. we are among the leading researchers on vector borne diseases in West Africa. We have one of the best facilities in West Africa to run research activities and testing vector control products with clear separation and dedicated space for each type of activity along with proper documentation to assure quality of the data generated from bioassay. Ability to conduct laboratory (Phase I) studies on IRS and LLIN formulations (as a minimum)and others in accordance with published WHO guidelines and following standard operating procedures (SOPs).
