BIOGRAPHY

I- Research Topics

Parasitology and Medical Entomology with a focus on Microbial Biotechnologies: Mainly Fungal, Wolbachia and other symbionts / entomopathogenic based strategies for vector-borne Diseases Control.

II- Degrees

  • 29th March 2018: PhD, in Medical Entomology from l’Université Ouaga 1 Prof Joseph Ki-Zerbo in collaboration with IRSS-Centre Muraz, Bobo Dioulasso. Topic: “Contributions to the development of new tools and strategies for malaria vector controlling”
  • 18th June 2012: Master 2 with honors in Medical Entomology University of Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso) Host Institution: IRSS/Centre Muraz, Bobo Dioulasso. Topic: “Development of tools and methods in order to disseminate transgenic bacteria genus Asaia to wild mosquitoes in the paratransgenic concept against malaria.

  • November 2022- October 2027: Principal Investigator of the ARISE Fellowship (GrantARISE-PP-FA-143); Innovative vector control strategies using entomopathogenic fungi for safe and reliable control of mosquitoes that transmit malaria and Dengue virus
  • March 2020-February 2023: Principal Investigator of the Wellcome Trust International Training Fellowship (Grant Ref.UNS95039). Project title: “Developing native strains of insect-killing Metarhizium spp. fungi to prevent malaria transmission in Burkina Faso”
  • February 2019-December 2021: Post-Doc researcher and Co-PI of ANTIVeC Pump-Priming Award AV/PP0025/1 “Effects of co-infection of Wolbachia an the entomopathogenic fungus Metarhizium pingshaense in Aedes aegypti
  • October 2019- September 2020: Principal Investigator of Medical Research Council Post-Doc Fellowship. Project: Preventing malaria transmission with entomopathogenic and parasite transmission- blocking fungi Metarhizium pingshaense

  • 22th October 2020: Best Young Scientific Researcher of Burkina Faso, Prix d’Excellence de la Recherche Scientifique / Minister of High Education and Research, A Trophy and 1 million CFA price
  • 13th February 2020: Co-Awardee of the American Association of Advancement of Sciences (AAAS) Newcomb Cleveland Prize for the best scientific publication of the year 2019-2020 in the journal Sciences
  • 7th– 30th October 2019 Grand Challenges rising stars travel award to attend to the 2019 Grand Challenges Annual Meeting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
  • The 2019 Antivec international Travel Award to attend upcoming PAMCA meeting. This is a award of £2,000 GBP to attend the meeting.
  • The 2019 Carl Storm International Diversity Fellowship. This Fellowship Program allows conference chairs to nominate graduate students and postdocs from China, Africa, India, Central America, South America, Russia, and Ukraine for a $1,250 award toward attending a Gordon Research Conference (GRC).
  • The 2019 Antivec Meeting Travel Award. This award of 1,850 GBP is given to graduate students and postdocs to attend the ANTIVeC Annual meeting to present their works.
  • 20thApril 2018: The Brian Sharp Award for Young Investigator in integrated management and Vector Control at the 7th Multilateral Initiative on Malaria (MIM) in Dakar, (Honor).
  • The 2018 ANTI-VeC Network travel bursary to attend to the annual meeting at the University of Glasgow. Amount awarded £ 1,450
